JR代々木駅と小田急線南新宿駅の間にあった活気ある千代通り商店街。昭和の時代、どこにでもあった私鉄沿線の駅前商店街ですが、いつのまにか無くなってしまいました。2023年、再訪すると八百屋、米屋、酒屋、金物屋、パーマ屋などほとんどのお店は無く、とうふ森田屋さんの建物のみ残っていました。歩いて新宿駅や代々木駅へ出ることができる地域なので、生活には困らないでのしょう。
Chiyo-dori Shopping Street 1984⇔2023
The lively Chiyo-dori shopping street used to be located between JR Yoyogi Station and Odakyu Line Minami-Shinjuku Station. In the Showa period (1926-1989), this shopping street was everywhere in front of stations along private railway lines, but it somehow disappeared. 2023, when I revisited the area, most of the stores such as grocery stores, rice shops, liquor stores, hardware stores, and perm shops were gone, and only Tofu Moritaya’s building remained. The area is within walking distance to Shinjuku and Yoyogi stations, so there is no need to worry about daily life in the area.
