上部を山手線などJR（国鉄）が通過し、下部は旧青梅街道で新宿駅の東西を連絡しています。1927(昭和2)年に完成。照明アクリル版の三平ストアの広告が懐かしい。立ち小便などの匂いを消すため消毒液臭さがあった。息を堪えて、西口入口から東口アルタ前出口までの約50mを早足で通り抜けた思い出がある。その間、息を堪える。映画「グランブルー」のワンシーンを彷彿させることから、「グランブルー」のトンネルと呼ばれていたとか・・。
2020年7月、新宿駅に東西自由通路が完成し利用者は減ったが、私は今でも利用している。用がなくともわざわざ思い出横丁にも寄り、角筈地下道を抜ける。 昭和のレトロな雰囲気が楽しめる貴重なエリアです。
Under the guard of Tunohazu, Shinjuku 1984⇔2023
Completed in 1927, the upper part of the guard is used by the Yamanote Line and other JR (Japan National Railways) lines, while the lower part connects the east and west sides of Shinjuku Station on the old Ome Kaido Road. The illuminated acrylic version of the Sanpei Store advertisement is nostalgic. There was an odor of disinfectant to eliminate the smell of standing urine and other odors. I have memories of holding my breath and walking quickly through the 50 meters from the west entrance to the east exit in front of Alta. The fact that I had to hold my breath during that time reminded me of a scene from the movie “Grand Blue. In July 2020, the East-West Free Passageway was completed in Shinjuku Station, and the number of users has decreased, but I still use the passageway. Even when I don’t have anything else to do, I make a point to stop by Omoide Yokocho and go through the Tsunohazu Underpass. It is a precious area where you can enjoy the retro atmosphere of the Showa period.
