Meguro River near Gotanda and Osaki (1991)
The Meguro River, which runs along Yamate Dori, is about 8 km long and flows from Setagaya Ward through Shinagawa Ward into Tokyo Bay. Once upon a time, the mouth of the river was used as a port, and the name “Shinagawa” came from the fact that it was a river where goods moved. The river is lined with cherry blossom trees planted with Someiyoshino cherry trees, and in spring, the “Cherry Blossom Festival” is held to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the river and cherry blossoms, and sightseeing boats are also available.

山手通に沿って流れる目黒川は、世田谷区から品川区を通って東京湾へ注ぐ、全長約8kmの川。そのむかし、河口が港として使われており、「品」物が動く「川」であることから、「品川」の名の起こりになった川でもある。川沿いにはソメイヨシノが植樹された桜並木になっており、春になると川と桜の美しい光景を楽しむ「桜祭り」が開催され、遊覧船も運行される。
