新宿西口 七福小路1984⇔2020⇔2023⇔2025
線路とのあいだ、
わずか一間ほどの細い隙間に、
6軒の店が肩を寄せ合っていた。
昭和30年代頃までは
「ロマンス小路」と呼ばれていたとも伝えられる。
2000年、隣接する「新宿パレットビル」の建て替えに伴い、
七福小路の敷地も含めて10階建てのビルへ。
路地はそのとき、姿を消した。
そして2023年5月。
中央・総武線各停が走り抜けるすぐ脇に、
フェンスに囲われた空地が、ふいに現れた。
消えたはずの場所が、
時間の隙間から、
もう一度だけ顔を出したように。
街は変わる。
記憶は、写真の中に残る。

Shinjuku West Exit – Shichifuku Alley1984⇔2020⇔2023⇔2025
In a narrow strip—barely the width of a single ken—
six small shops once stood tightly side by side between the railway and the street.
Until around the 1950s,
it was said to be known as “Romance Alley.”
In 2000, alongside the redevelopment of the adjacent Shinjuku Palette Building,
the entire site—including Shichifuku Alley—was replaced by a 10-story building.
The alley disappeared at that time.
Then, in May 2023,
right beside the passing Chūō–Sōbu Line local trains,
a fenced-off vacant lot suddenly appeared.
A place thought to be gone,
briefly revealing itself again through a gap in time.
Cities change.
Memories remain in photographs.
