1984年ごろの新宿歌舞伎町「新宿名画座」です。かつて新宿、歌舞伎町はB級映画館と二本立、三本立名画座の宝庫だった。金、土はオールナイト営業で始発電車までの時間を映画館のシートで過ごす人々が当り前の様に見受けられた。今は1作品ごとの総入れ替え制ですが、昔の映画館は、1度入場すればずっといられたのです。「新宿名画座」は1956年に成人映画上映館としてオープン、1987年「新宿シネパトス」へと館名を変更された。1995年には「歌舞伎町松竹」「新宿ジョイシネマ」とともに「「新宿ジョイシネマ1・２・３」 へと館名が統一された。2009年5月、60年に渡る歴史に幕を下ろしました。現在は東京ミステリーサーカスや飲食店があるビルである。

It is “Shinjuku Meigaza” in Kabukicho, Shinjuku around 1984. In the past, Shinjuku and Kabukicho were a treasure trove of B-class movie theaters and two- and three-storied masterpieces. Friday and Saturday are open all night, and it seems natural for people to spend the time until the first train on the seats of the movie theater. Nowadays, it is a total replacement system for each movie, but in the old movie theaters, once you entered, you could stay for a long time.”Shinjuku Meigaza” opened as an adult movie screening hall in 1956, and the name was changed to “Shinjuku Cinepathos” in 1987. In 1995, the name of the theater was unified to “Shinjuku Joy Cinema 1, 2, 3” along with “Kabukicho Shochiku” and “Shinjuku Joy Cinema”. In May 2009, the curtain was put on 60 years of history.
