鎌倉道・並木橋 1984⇔2025

なんと、この小さく古い「並木橋」を通る道は中世の鎌倉道(鎌倉街道)です。

この右手の細い道を、古くから鎌倉道と呼び、源氏が鎌倉に幕府を開いて以来、東日本の各地に設けた軍道のひとつといわれています。ここから西へ行くと、渋谷川を渡って目黒川にくだり、後楽塚の二つの築山の間を抜けて神奈川県にいたります。また、東に進むと、青山学院の付近を通り、千駄ヶ谷方面に達し、さらに東北地方に向かっていたといわれています。大永四年（一五二四）に、相模の北条軍がこの鎌倉道を通って江戸に攻めのぼり、その時の戦火が渋谷地域にも及び金王八幡宮付近にあった城館が焼失したと伝えられます。

Kamakura Road・Namiki Bridge 1984⇔2025
This narrow road on the right has been called Kamakura-do since ancient times, and it is said to be one of the military roads established in various parts of eastern Japan since the Genji opened the bakufu in Kamakura.If you go west from here, cross the Shibuya River to the Meguro River, and pass between the two Tsukiyama in Korakuzuka to Kanagawa Prefecture.In addition, it is said that if you go east, you will pass near Aoyama Gakuin, reach Sendagaya, and then head towards the Tohoku region.It is said that in the fourth year of Oei (1524), the Hojo army of Sagami attacked Edo through this Kamakura Road, and the war at that time extended to the Shibuya area and burned down the castle building near Kinno Hachimangu Shrine.

『並木橋』と聞くと、代官山方面へ抜ける大きな橋を思い浮かべるかもしれません。しかし、この橋は『新並木橋』で、本来の『並木橋』はその脇にある小さな橋（写真右側）です。江戸時代には幕府の『御入用橋』として格式が高く、『金王下橋』と呼ばれていました。明治時代に改築され『並木橋』に改称。1984年当時の写真には東急東横線の高架橋が写り、その付近にあった『並木橋駅』は1945年の空襲で廃止されています。その後、地下化する2013年まで高架として利用され、現在は渋谷川沿い約600メートルの遊歩道として整備されています。

During the Edo period, it was a prestigious bridge used by the shogunate and was called “Kinnougebashi.” It was rebuilt during the Meiji period and renamed “Namikibashi.” In a photo from 1984, the elevated track of the Tokyu Toyoko Line can be seen, and the “Namiki Bridge Station” that was located nearby was abolished due to the air raids of 1945. It continued to be used as an elevated structure until 2013 when it was relocated underground, and is now a pedestrian path along the Shibuya River spanning approximately 600 meters.
