西銀座チャンスセンターは、1960（昭和35）年に日本劇場（日劇）横で「宝くじチャンスセンター」として開業。1981（昭和56）年、日劇閉館に伴い、数寄屋橋交差点近くへ移転し、「西銀座デパートチャンスセンター」として再スタートを切りました。2009年には現在の「西銀座チャンスセンター」に改称し、現在の姿となっています。開業以来60年以上にわたり、日本一の宝くじ売場として知られ、特にジャンボ宝くじの発売時の長蛇の列ができるのが恒例となっています。
猿回し（猿まわし）は、千年以上の歴史を持つ日本の伝統芸能です。もともとは馬の守り神とされた猿を使い、馬の病気除けの祈祷として始まり、平安時代には馬屋のお祓いの儀式として行われました。江戸時代には正月の初笑いとしても親しまれました。山口県東部（周防地方）の高洲部落は近代猿回しの発祥地で、大正時代初期には多くの親方や猿、調教師が全国を巡業していました。周防の猿回しは、伝統と新しい芸を融合させ、今も多くの人々に笑いと感動を届けています。
Nishi-Ginza Chance Center 1984⇔2025
The Nishi-Ginza Chance Center opened in 1960 as the “Lottery Chance Center” next to the Nippon Gekijo Theater (Nichigeki), and in 1981, with the closing of the Nichigeki, it was relocated near Sukiyabashi Crossing and re-launched as the “Nishi-Ginza Department Store Chance Center. In 2009, the name was changed to the current Nishi-Ginza Chance Center. For more than 60 years since its opening, it has been known as the best lottery ticket booth in Japan, especially for the long lines that form when jumbo lottery tickets go on sale.
Sarumawashi (monkey show) is a traditional Japanese performing art with a history of more than 1,000 years. Originally, it began as a prayer to ward off horse sickness using a monkey, which was considered a guardian deity of horses, and in the Heian period (794-1185), it was performed as a purification ceremony for stables. In the Edo period (1603-1867), it was also popular as the first laugh of the New Year. The Takasu tribe in the eastern part of Yamaguchi Prefecture (Suo region) is the birthplace of the modern monkey show, and by the early Taisho period (1912-1926), many masters, monkeys, and trainers were touring the country. The Suo Sarumawashi, a fusion of tradition and new art, continues to bring laughter and excitement to many people today.
