「銀座の柳」とも言われるように、昔は街路樹に柳は多かった。しかし、成長が早く手入れが大変である。枝が下に向かって伸びるため車や歩行者の通行の妨げとなるなどの理由から減ってきました。現在、「思い出横丁」に柳の木は植えられていないが、街路灯の支柱に造花の柳が飾られいる。風にそよぐ柳並木は涼しげで風流である。
現在、新宿駅西口地区開発計画が進んでいますが、隣接する「思い出横丁」はどうなるのか？「思い出横丁」の再開発は、2003年には地権者たちによる「新宿駅西口地区市街地再開発準備組合」も立ち上がったが・・・。意見がまとまらず頓挫し、再開発の話は皆無となっている模様です。

In the olden days, there were many willows in the roadside trees, as it is called “Ginza willow”. However, it grows fast and is difficult to maintain. The number of branches has decreased because the branches grow downward, which obstructs the passage of cars and pedestrians. Currently, willow trees are not planted, but artificial flower willows are displayed on the pillars of the street lights. The willow trees swaying in the wind are cool and windy.
In 2003, the landowners of Shinjuku Station West Exit Area Urban Redevelopment Preparation Association was formed to redevelop “Memoide Yokocho,” but the association failed to reach a consensus. However, the association failed to reach a consensus, and no one is talking about redevelopment of the area.
