銀座の地に開業したのは1984（昭和59）年。この日はオープニングイベントなのか、パリの大道芸のピエロを模したパフォーマンスが繰り広げられていました。
2017（平成29）年、この場所は「マロニエゲート銀座2」に改称され、1階から4階が「UNIQLO TOKYO」5階から6階は「ニトリ」。2020年9月11日撮影の同地点、コロナ禍で人通りも無く寂しい銀座。
2020年の最初の緊急事態宣言は、4月7日に東京都など7都府県を対象に発令され、4月16日に全国へ拡大されました。この第1回目の宣言は5月25日に全面解除されています。2020年9月11日の撮影時点では、緊急事態宣言や「まん延防止等重点措置」などの法的措置は講じられていませんでしたが、銀座の様子はこうでした。この時期は新型コロナウイルス感染症の「第2波」の最中で、感染者数は増加傾向にあったものの、政府による緊急事態宣言の再発令は行われていませんでした。
