昭和時代に流行した楕円形の駅前ロータリー。その周囲には柳の街路樹が映え、懐かしい雰囲気を漂わせています。「自由ヶ丘」といえば、上品で洗練された街並みが特徴で、女性に人気のエリアですが、昭和の趣きを残した老舗の飲食店も数多く存在します。歩行者優先の取り組みにより、歩道部分が拡張され、より安全で快適な環境が整備されました。現在も、「ダロワイヨ」のマカロンやケーキ、さらには「ファーストキッチン」といった店舗が、当時と同じ場所で営業を続けています。
時計・宝飾、そして眼鏡を扱う「一誠堂」は、2023年1月、自由が丘駅前再開発によりサンセットエリアにあるセザーム自由が丘に移転いたしました。。このエリアは「自由が丘1丁目29番地区第1種市街地再開発事業」として、中規模の複合施設を建設する計画が進められており、2026年7月の竣工が予定されています。
Jiyugaoka Station Rotary 1984⇔2025
The oval-shaped rotary in front of the station was popular in the Showa period. Surrounded by willow trees, the area has a nostalgic atmosphere. Jiyugaoka is an area popular among women for its elegant and refined streetscape, but there are also many long-established restaurants that retain the flavor of the Showa period. Pedestrian priority initiatives have expanded the sidewalk area, creating a safer and more comfortable environment. Today, stores such as “DARROYOT” macaroons and cakes, as well as “First Kitchen” continue to operate in the same locations as they did back then.
In January 2023, “Isseido,” which deals in watches, jewelry, and eyeglasses, relocated to Cesarm Jiyugaoka in the Sunset area due to the redevelopment of the area in front of Jiyugaoka Station. This area is being planned as the “Jiyugaoka 1-29 District Type 1 Urban Redevelopment Project” to build a medium-sized complex, which is scheduled to be completed in July 2026.
