京王線下高井戸駅の踏切を渡るとさまざまな商店が並ぶ下高井戸駅前市場がありました。1956年に建てられた建物が残り、昭和レトロな雰囲気が漂い、下高井戸商店街の象徴ともいえましたが、2024年3月31日に閉場し、その後跡地は広場として整備されています。世田谷区はこの広場を「街の賑わいスペース」として活用していく方針を示しており、京王線高架化工事の進展に合わせて今後の街づくりも検討されています。

Crossing the railroad crossing at Keio Line Shimotakaido Station revealed the Shimotakaido Station Front Market, lined with various shops. The building, constructed in 1956, remained standing, exuding a retro Showa-era atmosphere and serving as a symbol of the Shimotakaido Shopping District. However, it closed on March 31, 2024, and the site has since been developed into a plaza. Setagaya Ward has announced plans to utilize this plaza as a “vibrant community space.” Future urban development plans are also being considered in conjunction with the progress of the Keio Line elevated track construction project.
