1984年、小田急電鉄の代々木八幡踏切を通過する特急ロマンスカー「LSE（7000形）」。LSEは”Luxury Super Express”の略称です。昭和世代にとって、バーミリオンオレンジとグレーの車体はロマンスカーの象徴でした。1980年から2018年まで38年間活躍し、歴代最長の運用を誇ります。
2021年の車両は7代目新型特急ロマンスカー「VSE(50000形)」VSEとは”Vault Super Express”の略(Vault :ドーム型の天井、天空の意)。踏切はやや代々木上原寄りに移動しています。VSE50000形も2022年3月で定期運行を終了しました。
2025年の車両は、1996年にデビューした6代目特急「ロマンスカー・EXE（30000形）」。”Excellent Express”（素敵で優秀な特急）の名を持ち、全長200m・10両編成で乗車定員を大幅に増加。観光だけでなくビジネスの足としても定着し、洗練されたデザイン、快適な居住空間を備えています。グッドデザイン賞（1996年）やロングライフデザイン賞（2007年）を受賞。座席定員が最も多く、「ホームウェイ」の主力車両としても親しまれています。
In 1984, Odakyu Electric Railway’s limited express Romance Car “LSE (Type 7000)” passes through the Yoyogi-Hachiman crossing. For the Showa generation, its vermilion orange and gray body was the symbol of the Romance Car, which was in service for 38 years from 1980 to 2018, making it the longest running Romance Car of all time.
The car of 2021 is the seventh generation of the new express Romance Car “VSE (Type 50000)” VSE stands for “Vault Super Express” (Vault: a dome-shaped ceiling, meaning the sky). The crossing has been moved slightly closer to Yoyogi Uehara, and the VSE Type 50000 will cease regular service in March 2022.
The car of 2025 is the 6th generation express “Romance Car EXE (Type 30000),” which debuted in 1996.” Excellent Express” (wonderful and excellent express), with a total length of 200 m, 10-car formation, and a significantly increased passenger capacity. The train is well established not only as a tourist attraction but also as a business stop, with a sophisticated design and comfortable living space. It received the Good Design Award (1996) and the Long Life Design Award (2007). With the largest seating capacity, it is also well known as the mainstay of the “Home Way” fleet.
