1974年当時「何も無かった」渋谷・ファイヤー通りに店を構えた「文化屋雑貨店」は、チープでバラエティに富んだ雑貨を所狭しと並べたカオスな空間で知られていた。ヴィヴィアン・ウェストウッド、アンディー・ウォーホル、ポール・スミスなども訪れた。1989年に地上げにより裏原宿エリアへ移転した。
Shibuya “Bunka-ya Zakka-ten” 1984 ⇔ 2023
Bunka-ya Zakka-ten” opened in 1974 on Fire Street in Shibuya, where “nothing existed” at the time, and was known for its chaotic space filled with a wide variety of inexpensive goods. In 1989, the store was relocated to the Uraharajuku area due to the land price hike.
渋谷ファイヤー通り（ストリート）「ファイヤー通り」の通称は、通り沿い右側に火の見櫓が残った旧渋谷消防署があることに由来する。
The street name “Fire Street” comes from the old Shibuya Fire Station, which still has the fire watchtower on the right side of the street.
その特徴的な形をしていてクルマに詳しくない人でも一目見れば「ビートル」とわかる「フォルクスワーゲンType１」です。「カブトムシ」の愛称でも呼ばれていた1970年代後期「1日3台ビートルを見たら幸せになれる」「黄色いビートルを見たら幸せになれる」「白色は好きな人と結ばれる」などなど。地域や年代によって違いはありますが、見た人に幸運が訪れるという「ビートル」です。
The “Beetle” is a Volkswagen Type 1 with a distinctive shape that even those who are not familiar with cars can recognize at a glance. In the late 1970s, the Beetle was also known as the “Beetle,” and in the late 1970s, people said things like, “You will be happy if you see three Beetles a day,” “You will be happy if you see a yellow Beetle,” and “White color means you will get married to the person you love.
