Ikebukuro “Bungeiza”1984⇔2020
Around 1984, the famous movie theater in Ikebukuro, “Bungeiza”, was a “great movie theater” with low prices and double features. The theater was in business for over 40 years, but closed in March 1997 due to deterioration of the building. Maruhan leased the site and rebuilt it as a pachinko parlor building, and in 2000, “Shin Bungeiza” opened as one of the tenants.
1984年ごろの池袋の「文芸坐」低料金で２本立てという「名画座」です。特徴的な外観が素敵でした。40年以上に渡って営業を続けたが、建物の老朽化などのため1997年3月閉館。跡地はマルハンが借り受け、パチンコ屋ビルとして再建。2000年にテナントのひとつとして「新文芸坐」がオープンし現在に至る。
Ikebukuro Station West Exit 1984⇔2020
It is the west exit of Ikebukuro around 1984. The west exit (north) has an entertainment district, and many restaurants, cabaret clubs, and suspicious sex shops line up, creating an atmosphere similar to Shinjuku Kabukicho.
